We have arrived in Bilbao. When I woke up at 4am UK time we were already moored up in the harbour. We have a long wait as the unloading does not start until 7am UK time. We had our fingers crossed that as we had been the last on this ferry we would be first off – and we were! A quick stamp on our brand new black passports and we were off. Toll Motorway all the way down to Madrid but we only paid 12Euros. Once again we were not very lucky with our choice of service stations for a snack, but the coffee was drinkable. Burgos was our planned midway city and the scenery both sides of Burgos was beautiful with many snow topped mountain ranges visible. The highest point we reached was over 2,000 metres. We arrived at our campsite by mid afternoon www.campingmadridarcoiris.com. A pleasant site open all year offering electric touring pitches of all sizes together with a mix of lodges and cabins for long and short lets. There is also a bar and restaurant and a vending machine offering basic essentials. Adequate showers with plenty of hot water. This is an easy stopover site for long journeys out of season.
Best: There was a table tennis for us to play on!
Worst: The table tennis table was tin with a tin net and the ball was being carried by the breeze.
