Day 21

Monday 10th March

Our day began at 3am to the sound of cyclonic rain – rain that is so heavy and so loud. I quickly realised that something else had woken me. My face was wet, we turned the lights on and, sure enough, WE HAVE A LEAK! The rain was coming in from above the window so it is probably some sealant that has failed on the top offside of the roof/rear panel. Luckily we are already booked into our dealer in the North East to have air suspension fitted in May and the leak can be added to the short list of things to fix. We woke up again at about 8am and it was STILL raining. We decided we could not possibly stay in the van for another day so we walked along the paved promenade and into the seaside resort town of Modril. Things are slowly opening up for the 2025 season and we soon found a small supermarket to re-stock our cupboards.  The rain stopped whilst we were out and we caught the occasional flash of blue sky. The town and the promenade look so much more attractive when the sun is shining on them. We stopped at a hotel for a coffee on our walk back to our campsite. We were a little surprised to see a police car outside the hotel straddling every line that they could find and even parked up on the pavement too. Inside the bar were four young policemen in full uniform (plus handcuffs, radio, truncheon and a GUN!). Each one of them was casually chatting whilst drinking bottled beer at the bar… they do things differently in Spain! The sun finally came through from behind the clouds to give us a beautiful evening and an excuse to go for a walk in a new direction and to take some photos. Total steps today 9,300.

Best: Mai Tai (Pauls’ cocktail) – always good to have a happy husband!

Worst: Having to make up 2 weeks supply of my ‘pill pots’ of Parkinson medications (15 tablets a day).
