19th February 2025
Today was our full day at sea. Our boat, the Salamanca, is not only huge but beautifully laid out, clean and modern. The cabins are spacious with ensuites and television that broadcasts UK TV. Yes, we did watch the 40th Anniversary edition of Eastenders! No, we were not impressed. During the short time we watched there was a lady giving birth, an alcoholic, a recovering alcoholic, a lady in a wheelchair and Ian Beale (I thought he left years ago along with Grant Mitchell, Nigel, Sonia and Bianca, Martin and Stacey to name just a few.) During the crossing we did have a surprise when we looked out of the right side of the boat and saw land where we thought the Atlantic Ocean should be (this may have already been changed to the Ocean of America). We quickly checked the other side of the boat and land was even closer. A quick look on Google Earth revealed that we were quite safe. We were actually taking a short cut leaving the French town of Brest on our left and the islands of Ushant and Ile-Molene on our right. The rest of the day was uneventful and we settled down to sleep looking forward to waking up in Spain.
Best: Me making it out of our cabin and going to the restaurant for dinner.
Worst: Seeing the perfume stand wrapped completely in cling film, confirming my fears that they would only do that if the weather forecast was bad. Flat calm all night!!!!
